Arrowroot (Maranta arundinacea) is a tropical tuber native to Indonesia.
Naturally gluten-free and a rich source of carbohydrates, B vitamins, and minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, and phosphorus with trace amounts of zinc, iron, and vitamin B1 and B6.
Thickens gravies and sauces at a lower temperature than flour or other thickening agents.
Storage Tips: store in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. Do not refrigerate. Best in 3-4 years.
Use it to:
thicken glazes, fruit pie fillings, and puddings in addition to sauces and gravy.
prevent ice crystals from forming in ice cream.

DIY DRY SHAMPOO:
Mix equal parts baking soda and either arrowroot powder or cornstarch (about a heaping tablespoon each) in a small bowl until the clumps are broken down. (For light hair, you're finished!)
For dark hair, mix in cocoa powder until you've reached a shade that matches closely to your hair root color.
